Hello and welcome to my website. I am an Erasmus Mundus joint PhD (SEED) student at the Zienkiewicz Center for Computational Engineering (ZCCE) in Swansea Univeristy, UK and at Laboratory of Computational Methods and Numerical Analysis (LaCáN) in Polytechnic University of Catalunya (UPC BarcelonaTech) in Spain. My research focuses on the development of a Cell Centred Finite Volume Method (CCFVM) for the simulation of fast-transient solid dynamics in the open source code OpenFOAM. The momentum-strains mixed formulation that we employ overcomes a number of shortcomings (volumetric locking, shear locking, pressure instabilities etc.) posed by the conventional displacement based formulations in commercial Finite Element codes such as ANSYS AUTODYN, LS-DYNA, ABAQUS, Altair HyperCrash etc. To have more insight into my current work, please have a look at the 'research' section.

ESI group organises an OpenFOAM user conference annually to interact with users and developers across the OpenFOAM community and share knowledge. Our paper entitled 'Large strain solid dynamics in OpenFOAM' has been awarded 'The Best Student Paper' at the '4th Annual OpenFOAM User Conference 2016' held in Cologne, Germany.

Our article entitled ´A first order hyperbolic framework for large strain computational solid dynamics: An upwind cell centred Total Lagrangian scheme´ has recently been published in International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering (IJNME). The paper focuses on the development of an upwind cell centred Finite Volume Method for simulation of large strain solid dynamics.
OpenFOAM workshop conducted at UPC BarcelonaTech, Spain.
Recently I conducted an OpenFOAM workshop at UPC BarcelonaTech (Campus Nord) which was intended for beginners of OpenFOAM. We familiarised ourselves with the OpenFOAM environment and understood the basic working of the software including meshing, solving and post-processing. The learning process was enhanced through a series of hands-on tutorials.

Prof. Javier Bonet awarded 'The IACM Fellows Award 2016'.
Professor Javier Bonet currently holds the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research & Enterprise at the University of Greenwich, UK. For his services in computational mechanics, he has been awarded with the prestigious 'IACM Fellows Award' in 2016. The award was announce at the '12th World Congress in Computational Mechanics (WCCM)' in Seoul, Korea.
Prof. Antonio Gil awarded 'Young Investigators Award 2016'.
Prof. Antonio Gil has been awarded with the prestigious 'O. C. Zienkiewicz Award for Young Scientists in Computational Engineering Sciences' in 2016. The award was handed over at the opening session of the ECCOMAS Congress 2016 in Crete, Greece.
